Nestled in the heart of the Coconino National Forest, Janie's Cabin offers a serene and off-the-beaten-path escape. Guests can enjoy easy access to the meadows of Lower Lake Mary, as well as a short drive to the waters of Upper Lake Mary. The cabin provides a variety of outdoor activities, including forest hikes, kayaking with provided equipment, horseshoes, and board games, all while taking in the stunning mountain views. Just 15 minutes from downtown Flagstaff, this cabin is the perfect basecamp for your wilderness adventure.
. With plenty of windows for light, you are never far from nature. Relax in the Adirondack chairs on the front porch while enjoying your favorite beverage or dinner cooked up on the grill. Listen to old records, enjoy the VHS and DVD library, or stream your own channels on the smart TV with high-speed satellite internet
The cabin sleeps eight, with a king bedroom downstairs and a spacious loft with two queen beds, a sleeper sofa, and small twin bed. There is a full bathroom downstairs and half-bath upstairs.
The kitchen has a refrigerator, stove/oven, and double sink with all the cooking equipment you should need. There is a Keurig coffee maker (pods). The cabin is on hauled water and propane, so we ask that you conserve during your stay. There is no dishwasher and, with exceptions, the washing machine is for housecleaners only.

The cabin is near Lower Lake Mary, about 8 miles SE of Flagstaff and the I-40/I-17 interchange. The last four miles of road to the property are unpaved, so the property may be unavailable when there is heavy snow or mud. Please use the driving directions you will receive, as smart phone maps tend to take you onto closed roads.

We have a firm cancellation policy. 100% refund 60 days before check-in; 50% refund 30-60 days before check-in.
Note that in the winter months the cabin may become inaccessible following heavy snow. While we do our best to clear the roads and make the cabin accessible, the weather is out of our control and we may need to cancel your booking (for a full refund). If water or propane deliveries cannot be made due to road conditions we may also need to cancel your visit.
The nightly rate various by season and day of the week, but is generally $169/weekday and $189 on weekends. Check-in is 4pm and checkout is 11am.
The is a $25/guest fee per stay after the first four guests, a $40 pet feeper stay, and a $150 cleaning and utility fee.
There is electricity and high-speed satellite internet. There is central heat, but no central air conditioning. Opening the windows and using the ceiling fans is generally sufficient. The cabin is on hauled water so we ask that you conserve water with short showers and dishwashing, The washing machine is for housecleaner use only. If needed in an emergency, first contact the hosts so they can check the water level. Please note there is a front doorbell camera and back floodlight camera used solely for safety/access purposes and to monitor weather/driveway conditions. They are not otherwise monitored.
We welcome well-behaved and housetrained pets! Because the neighbors have dogs and there are potentially coyotes, bobcats, and mountain lions in the area, please closely monitor your pet and keep it leashed when outside. If you need to leave your dog alone in the cabin, please leave them in a kennel. We provide pet accident cleaning supplies, a dog fence for the porch, and a small dog bed. Even though we are in the forest, we ask that you please pick up after your pet for the enjoyment of future guests.
Due to the typically dry conditions in the forest and the risk of forest fires, a year-round campfire restriction became effective on 05/01/2023 and will remain in effect until it expires or is rescinded by the National Forest Service. Please do not build a fire, ignite fireworks, extinguish cigarettes, or use anything else with an open flame.
